A professional journalist since 1977, he is editor of “Limes - rivista Italiana di Geopolitica”. Formerly parliamentary correspondent and then head of political affairs for the “Repubblica”, he writes for various newspapers and foreign journals, focussing on geopolitical issues. He has taught political geography at the University of Roma Tre, political and economic geography at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and from the 2009-2010 academic year is lecturer in strategic studies at the Luiss University. He has held conferences at some of the most prestigious strategy institutes, from the Centro Alti Studi Difesa in Rome to the Heritage Foundation in Washington. He has published the following books with Laterza: Terra Incognita. Geopolitica della crisi italiana (2001) and Dialogo intorno all'Europa, with E. Letta (2005).
